Amarante – The River

Other than the church I decided to go for a walk across and along the river.

A little stone bench on the church side of the river.

These little daisies can be found coming out of almost every little crevice in the stone bridge and walls in and around Amarante and elsewhere along the river.

This is a rare sight here in Portugal, these old post boxes have slowly been disappearing from view, which personally I find a shame.

Like I mentioned earlier, they really do grow almost anywhere.

I came down these (fairly even) steps to the river.

I walked under the stone bridge.

And then went up these (totally uneven) stone steps, definitely had to pay attention to where I was putting my feet, otherwise I would have tripped several times.

Gorgeous! This is what I miss the most about living in Europe – everything is so beautiful and steeped in history. The U.S. just doesn’t have any of that 🙂
